With an arsenal of new lyrics and tight quintet arrangements from their soon-to-be-released album Nonet, The Mammals will tour New South Wales, Western Australia, and Victoria on their April/May 2020 Australian tour. The band will release the Nonet on CD in Australia on April 10 at the National Folk Festival as they kick off the tour in Canberra. A USA release is planned for May.

If you could hear me now, if you could hear me somehow, if you could hear the words that I’m thinkin’
’Bout a world on fire, good thoughts lost in the mire, and it seems like no one’s listenin’
(lyrics from If You Could Hear Me Now, The Mammals)

Core songwriters, Mike Merenda & Ruth Ungar Merenda toured New South Wales last October/November as a duo. Ungar relates, “The bushfire season was just getting underway, earlier than expected, and smoke could already be seen in the air. The Australian people opened their homes and hearts to us, and in some cases shared their past survival stories and fire-preparedness plans.” Merenda adds, “Some of the communities we visited have been deeply impacted by the recent fires. We look forward to coming back to Australia with our full band, to lift spirits and energize folks in a time of great worldwide challenge.”
